National donut day is this Friday and we’ve teamed up with the Salvation Army @cfs_listowel_salvationarmy Did you know that donut day originated in 1838 as a fundraiser for The Salvation Army during the Great Depression, aiming to help those in need while honouring the women who provided donuts to soldiers in WW1. These women, known as “Doughnut Lassies” served donuts and coffee to boost the morale of the soldiers on the front lines. The tradition of donut day continues to symbolize comfort and care. Buy a donut, give a donut, eat a donut. We have collaborated with The Salvation Army to bring you our red raspberry donut. As warmer weather settles in (loving it!) the crème brulee fry pie is taking a bit of a holiday for 2 reasons. 1. Because our pastry cream is made by hand using real dairy and no preservatives or fake junk, it’s difficult to keep it fresh for long when temperatures climb in the kitchen. 2. With higher humidity, the brûléed sugar outside can turn more soft and sticky as opposed to that shattering crisp we all love.
